While we were in Switzerland, Steppin’ Out was at the “Spa” – aka the boat yard, having some work done before our next adventure. This included new “bottom paint” and “prop speed” on all of the running gear. Both processes help to prevent hard growth on the bottom of the boat that leads to drag and reduces the efficiency with which we cruise thru the water. Just a couple of small barnacles on the props will create enough cavitation to drop our speed and increase our fuel burn by 20% or more!
Watch below as the Marlow Team carefully maneuver Steppin’ Out thru the yard and over to the launch/lift well!
Our new Tender (Lil’ Step) also arrived which is our “SUV” when we’re out anchored and exploring areas that we visit. We took delivery of a Walker Bay Venture 14 with a 70 hp Yamaha engine. She rides like a dream (smooth, level and dry) and has plenty of room for our adventures with friends and family. With a 17 gallon fuel tank, we’ve got the range to really explore the islands – let’s go!
